Ajith Kumar has been at the center of attention ever since receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. While he continues to shine both as a film star and a professional racer, the Tamil superstar recently opened up about his unconventional journey into cinema, describing himself as an "accidental actor."

In a candid interview with India Today, Ajith surprised many by revealing that acting was never part of his original plan. His true passion, he shared, has always been racing, and he turned to acting primarily to fund that dream. Reflecting on his early days, Ajith recalled working at an automobile company at age 18 while struggling to pursue his passion due to financial constraints. To make ends meet, he took up modeling assignments, using that income to support his racing interests.

“Acting was never on my radar. I am an accidental actor,” he said. “I started getting assignments, and the money I made there, I used to spend on racing.”

He went on to explain that his entry into the film industry was purely practical—he needed a stable income to repay debts, not to chase stardom. “I didn't come to the industry wanting to be famous or seeking fame. I wanted money to pay back my debts,” he admitted. “If you see my first few films, I was a terrible actor.”

Today, however, Ajith Kumar stands as one of Tamil cinema’s most iconic and respected figures. Despite his humble beginnings and lack of initial interest in acting, his journey is a testament to dedication and resilience.

On the film front, after the success of Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, he is currently making headlines for his upcoming projects, one of which is reportedly being directed by Dhanush.

Ajith is also celebrating his 54th birthday on May 1, 2025. Recently, he was hospitalized at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai after sustaining an injury.
